As part of the RAF since 1916, No 43 Sqn's exploits in World War 2 are the focus of this volume, with chapters detailing the unit's participation in the Battle of France, evacuation of Dunkirk, and Battle of Britain. Its pilots then took part in both daylight sweeps over the Low Countries and defensive night patrols and intruder missions, before heading to North Africa in 1942. Exchanging its Hurricanes for Spitfires in early 1943. No 43 Sqn flew from Malta during the invastion of Sicily, and then moved to the Italian mainland in August of that year. The unit remained committed to the Italian front until VE-Day. 128 pages.
