The Pup was the forerunner of the Camel, which duly became the most successful fighter of World War 1. A faultless machine that was loved by all who flew it, the Pup entered service in France with the Royal Naval Air Service in the autumn of 1916. The best British fighter on the Western Front at the time, the Pup was also issued to a trio of Royal Flying Corps squadrons from January 1917 onwards. Some 29 pilots achieved ace status with the Pup, and 22 others who claimed victories with the aircraft later 'made ace' flying Triplanes and Camels. These Statistics are quite remarkable when you consider that the Pups, armed with just a solitary Vickers gun, were up against the deadly Albatros scouts with their twin Spandau machine guns and more powerful inline engines. This book is the first in print devoted exclusively to Pup aces, and includes numerous first-hand accounts, more than 90 photographs and 20 all color profiles and plans. 96 pages.

NOTE: These books were purchased directly from the publisher, but have yellowed some on the back cover because of being placed near the window. Discounted for that reason.
